How Can We Help?
Instructions for competitors in Foot-O

As a runner you will be equipped with an emiTag. Strap the tag around your wrist with the supplied band.
During WOC and other TV broadcasted events, you may be assigned two emiTags to run with. Both emiTags should be mounted on the same wrist. The reason that you are using two emiTags is mostly for your own safety to avoid hardware failure / hardware breakage (crushed against stone for example) or loss of radiotransmitted punches due to many runners passing at the same time.

In speed the punching is performed by holding the emiTag 0-50 cm above the control for a short moment. The LED light in the emiTag will start flashing, and keeps flashing for 5 seconds after the punch.
NOTE! It is important to see this flashing, since this is the only feedback telling you that the punch is performed correctly!
emiTags with a number lower than 4 103 640 must be replaced in 2024. For more information New emiTag | Emit

Controls (Touch-Free PRO)
The controls are of the type Touch-Free PRO.
Punching range when standing still is 75 cm. The range is reduced when punching in high speed.
On WOC there should be two control units at the control site.
The punching-field is strongest above the control when its mounted flat. Try to punch by holding the emiTag above the control and not against the side of it! This is the most efficient punching technique!
Do NOT touch the control unit when punching
Example of control stand:
START
Touch-Free Start PRO. Hold your emiTag up to the starting unit to “zero/clear” the emiTag (normally 2 minutes before the start but exact position for clear depends on the organizer process).
When zeroing the emiTag (holding it against the TFP start) The LED light in the emiTag will start flashing, and keeps flashing for 5 seconds after the punch at the start unit. This is a verification for the organizers that the emiTag is working.

FINISH
Finish times are measured with help of loops in the ground so that you can pass the finish line at full speed.
The finish-line (where time is taken) should be marked clearly on the ground.
The readout/punch control is done after the finish line.
